Andrew Seltzer, DO

Dr. Andrew A. Seltzer, of Southfield, MI, has been practicing orthopaedic medicine in Palm Beach County since August of 1989 following the completion of his fellowship training for Hand Surgery at the University of Southern California.   Dr. Seltzer previously received his Orthopaedic Trauma training at USC under the tutelage of Donald Wiss, MD and Augusto Sarmiento, MD from July to September of 1987 then studied total joint replacement at Brigham & Women’s Hospital through Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Seltzer began his academic pursuits at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Psychology.  After graduating from the Des Moines University in 1983 with a Doctor of Osteopathy degree, Dr. Seltzer performed his rotating internship at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Highland Park, MI from 1983-1984 and continued with his Orthopaedic Surgical residency and becoming the Chief Surgical Resident from 1987-1988.  Concurrent with his surgical residency, he also completed pediatric orthopaedic training at Shriner’s Hospital in Tampa from January to March in 1987.  Dr. Seltzer then completed his Hand Surgery Training at Detroit Medical Center Harper Hospital in Detroit in June, 1987. 

He is a Member of the American Board of Osteopathic Surgeons and was awarded his board certification with the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (AOBOS) in September of 1992.  In October of 1999, Dr. Seltzer earned the Certification of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.  He is also a Board Certified Examiner with AOBOS, an Expert Medical Adviser for the State of Florida Division of Worker’s Compensation and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department of Surgery Division of Orthopaedics with Nova Southeastern University

Dr. Seltzer has made multiple presentations at national meetings of a variety of orthopaedic societies and organizations since 1989 including the Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Specialists in Washington, DC in 1994 and the Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Specialty in Orlando in 2000.  He was also the first physician in Palm Beach County to be honored with the Pro Bono Community Service Award by the Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society.

Dr. Seltzer joined Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute (PBOI) in April of 2007, leaving Atlantis Orthopedics, a practice he founded in 1990.   His expertise in hand surgery and joint replacement enhances the orthopedic offering to patients of PBOI, further establishing the practice as the premier orthopaedic center in Palm Beach County.
