FAQ

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy can be a very successful non-surgical treatment for many conditions. Depending on your injury, disease, or condition, you may need to work on flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and/or balance. It can include weight training exercises, stretching, massage, and other specialized treatments. It will often be prescribed by your doctor for many conditions before and/or after surgery. The goal of physical therapy is to speed your recovery, improve your function and range of motion, and strengthen your muscles. This treatment generally should not be painful, so be sure to ask questions of your therapist or doctor if something doesn't feel right.

How do I find a physical therapist?

PBOI provides Physical Therapy services in each of our locations but it is ultimately patient’s choice. If needed, your Physician will provide you with a referral to an outside facility.

Do I need to see the doctor again before getting a new physical therapy order?

If you have been seen by us for your injury/condition within the past three months, you can request a new physical therapy script from your doctor. If you have not been seen for your injury/condition with in the past three months, you will need to schedule an appointment to be reevaluated by your physician before they will order additional physical therapy visits.
