Welcome to the Center for Hand & Wrist Center

The hand and wrist are composed of many small bones called carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges. When the hand or wrist is unable to function properly, our day to day tasks become difficult and sometimes impossible. The board-certified hand surgeons here at Palm Beach Orthopaedic Institute can help restore function so you can return to your normal life as much as possible. Our team includes orthopaedic surgeons who are fellowship-trained in finger, hand, and wrist surgeries. We provide comprehensive surgical and non-surgical treatment, and our collaborative approach means our patients benefit from our team’s highly specialized expertise.

Anatomy

The hand is composed of many small bones called carpals, metacarpals and phalanges. The two bones of the lower arm, the radius and the ulna meet at the hand to form the wrist. The bones in and around the wrist consist of the forearm bones, carpal bones, and hand bones. There are two long bones in the forearm that run from the elbow to the wrist.

Diagnostics

The hands are a complex part of the body, and we rely on them for so much of our everyday function. Your doctor will ask about your symptoms and perform a careful examination of your fingers and hand. To provide an accurate diagnosis of your hand or wrist issue, our doctors will perform an evaluation as well as order tests, such as X-rays. Once the cause of your wrist or hand problem has been determined, our hand doctors will work together to develop an individualized treatment plan
